Cumulus Series (2004)

The five pieces shown here are from the Cumulus series that I developed in early 2004. Each piece is formed through an animated process which involves the slow accumulation of falling sliver-like elements. When all of the slivers have fallen, the final design is exported to a PostScript file. Based on this file, a computer-controlled waterjet machine then cuts the design from an aluminum sheet. Last, the panel is painted using a powder coating process. Each of the pieces in this series is a unique work that will not be editioned. The Cumulus series will be shown at Built Inc (22 Howard Street, New York, NY) in April of 2005.
